EV Battery & High-Voltage Systems
The high-voltage battery is one of the most important and expensive components in an electric vehicle. Battery-related warning messages or reduced performance do not automatically mean the entire battery needs replacement.
A concern may involve battery modules, temperature management, sensors, electrical connections, charging components, the battery-management system or another related component.
Proper diagnosis is especially important before recommending major EV repairs.
EVs Still Require Regular Maintenance
Electric vehicles eliminate many traditional maintenance items such as engine oil changes, spark plugs and conventional engine components, but they are not maintenance-free.
EV owners should still pay attention to tires, brakes, brake fluid, coolant where applicable, suspension, steering, wheel alignment, cabin filters, A/C systems, 12-volt batteries and manufacturer-recommended inspections.
Because regenerative braking can reduce the use of conventional friction brakes, EV brake components should also be inspected for corrosion, sticking or uneven wear, particularly on vehicles driven in wet climates.
