Your vehicle’s Check Engine Light can illuminate when the onboard computer detects a problem with the engine, emissions, fuel, ignition, air-intake, electrical, or related control systems. The cause can range from a relatively minor sensor or emissions issue to a problem that could affect performance, fuel economy, emissions, or engine reliability.

Our Check Engine Light diagnosis and repair may include:

• Computer Diagnostic Scan – Scan the vehicle’s computer systems for current, pending and stored diagnostic trouble codes.
• Warning Light Diagnosis – Determine why the Check Engine Light is on rather than simply clearing the warning light.
• Live Data Analysis – Review sensor readings and operating data to help identify components or systems operating outside their expected range.
• Ignition System Inspection – Check spark plugs, ignition coils and related components when misfires or ignition faults are detected.
• Fuel System Diagnosis – Inspect fuel-delivery and fuel-control systems when applicable, including injectors, fuel pressure and related sensors.
• Air Intake System Inspection – Check intake hoses, vacuum lines, throttle body and related components for leaks, restrictions or faults.
• Sensor Testing – Test oxygen sensors, mass-airflow sensors, manifold-pressure sensors, temperature sensors, camshaft/crankshaft sensors and other engine-management sensors as applicable.
• Misfire Diagnosis – Diagnose rough running, hesitation, shaking or misfire codes to determine whether the cause is ignition, fuel, air, mechanical or electrical.
• EVAP System Diagnosis – Inspect the evaporative-emissions system for leaks or component failures, including the gas cap, purge valve, vent valve, hoses and related components.
• Catalytic Converter & Emissions Diagnosis – Evaluate catalytic-converter efficiency and related emissions components when indicated by diagnostic results.
• Electrical & Wiring Inspection – Inspect wiring, connectors, grounds, fuses and electrical circuits associated with the detected fault.
• Vacuum & Smoke Testing – Perform leak testing when necessary to locate vacuum, intake or EVAP system leaks.
• Mechanical Engine Testing – When necessary, perform additional testing such as compression or other mechanical checks to determine whether an internal engine condition is causing the fault.
• Repair & Component Replacement – Repair wiring, leaks or mechanical faults and replace failed sensors or components when testing confirms they are defective.
• Clear Codes & Reset System – Clear diagnostic trouble codes after repairs have been completed.
• Post-Repair Verification – Road test and rescan the vehicle as appropriate to verify that the repair corrected the problem.

Our goal is to diagnose the actual cause of the Check Engine Light—not simply replace the component named in a trouble code. Diagnostic codes identify the system where a problem was detected, but additional testing is often necessary to determine the underlying cause.

Once the problem is identified, we recommend the appropriate repair to restore proper engine performance, fuel efficiency and emissions-system operation while helping prevent additional damage or unexpected breakdowns.

Important: If the Check Engine Light is flashing, the vehicle may have an active misfire or another serious condition that can damage the catalytic converter or engine. Driving should be minimized until the vehicle can be properly diagnosed.
